WHITE HOUSE hopeful John Kerry has traced his Scots ancestry back to a village in Aberdeenshire.

The Sunday Mail can reveal the presidential candidate has his roots with the Forbes clan in Strathdon.

Kerry is a distant relation of Sir Hamish Forbes, an 86-year-old war hero and chieftain of yesterday's Lonach Games.

It is highly unlikely Kerry will be aware of his tartan roots but experts investigating the Democrat's family tree have found the senator's ancestors on his mother's side came from Aberdeenshire.

His great-great-great-great grandfather, Reverend John Forbes, was born in Strathdon but emigrated to the US in the 1700s. ..
