FBI probes DOD office (spy probe widens)
it's not just Franklin; it's Rhode as well:

http://www.majority.com/news/upi-spy.htm

According to one former senior U.S. intelligence official who maintained excellent contacts with serving U.S. intelligence officials in the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, "Rhode practically lived out of (Ahmad) Chalabi's office."

This same source quoted the intelligence official with the CPA as saying, "Rhode was observed by CIA operatives as being constantly on his cell phone to Israel," and that the information that the intelligence officials overheard him passing to Israel was "mind-boggling," this source said.

It dealt with U.S. plans, military deployments, political projects, discussion of Iraq assets, and a host of other sensitive topics, the former senior U.S. intelligence official said.

Other members of OSP are also under scrutiny, but federal law enforcement officials declined to confirm additional names furnished them by UPI. Pentagon spokesman Conway said, "We have no knowledge of any probe of particular OSP members."

Rhode is a close member of an inner circle of senior Bush officials who in the past have had skirmishes with the FBI over allegations that they provided classified information to Israel, several serving and former U.S. intelligence officials said.

11. Does Anyone Have Name Of OSP's Israeli's Twin
it's reported that Israeli Intelligence have an office similiar to OSP... which is also despised by regular intelligence.

Does anyone know the name of this office or group?

16. John Bolton was in Israel in February 2003

John Bolton in Jerusalem:
The New Age of Disarmament Wars

By Ian Williams
February 20, 2003

From the homeland of Armageddon this week came worrying signs that we should begin worrying about the even longer and harder wars to follow. John Bolton, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Disarmament Affairs and International Security, was in Israel this week, for meetings about "preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction."

It seems appropriate for the U.S. and Israel to meet about disarmament issues. After all, Israel is universally acknowledged by everyone--excepting the U.S. government--as a considerable nuclear power, and much of the world regards its prime minister as a profound threat to international security. However, we can be sure that neither item was on Bolton's agenda.

Bolton-Sharon Style Disarmament

While in Israel, Bolton met Sharon and Netanyahu. He promised that after the U.S. has sorted Iraq "it will be necessary to deal with threats from Syria, Iran, and North Korea afterwards." For Bolton and Sharon, disarmament is what you do to other people, no more and no less.

<snip>

The venue for Bolton's disarmament talks is significant. Although Israel is agnostic on Kim Jong Il, there is no doubt that the rest of Bolton's dominoes fall exactly in line with the eschatological plans of the Likudnik fundamentalists. When they met, Sharon told him that Israel was "concerned about the security threat posed by Iran" and that it was important to deal with it even while American attention is turned toward Iraq. Since it was the Israelis and the Reagan administration that had conspired to provide weaponry for Iran in the 1980s, we know how strongly and consistently they feel about this.

I think I have the link (wonder if it's still good) from Haaertz describing that meeting...

will have to look

added on edit:

Here is the Haaertz link (no longer working - I have it dated in my computer as 2/17/03) and part of the article:

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/263923.html

U.S. Undersecretary of State John Bolton said in meetings with Israeli officials on Monday that he has no doubt America will attack Iraq, and that it will be necessary to deal with threats from Syria, Iran and North Korea afterwards.

Bolton, who is undersecretary for arms control and international security, is in Israel for meetings about preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

In a meeting with Bolton on Monday, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said that Israel is concerned about the security threat posed by Iran. It's important to deal with Iran even while American attention is turned toward Iraq, Sharon said.

Bolton also met with Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Housing and Construction Minister Natan Sharansky.

hopefully we can still rely on the FBI and member of the Justice Department not directly working for Asscroft.

Key line about half way down:

Investigators are said to be looking at whether Franklin acted with authorization from his superiors, one official said.

9. I think Doug Feith's nuts will soon be in the vise
if they're not already there. I'm sure shorts are also getting fudged by some other Pentagon officials as well. I think it's going to take a tribunal once this group gets tossed out to clean up their stink. Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, Bush, Wolfowitz, Perle, and the rest of this traitorous bunch. Put them all in the dock and put them away, preferrably with the general population at Gitmo, the ones who are left anyway.

It started to break, but then came the story about "mid-level" Franklin, etc.

20. So how do we keep it "uncrammed"? I'm still amazed that it's not
all over the news, big-time. Gee the Swiftliars were all over the front pages -- but this is buried.

Very, very frustrating!

22. We don't know who is discouraging coverage of this. It might
be the FBI. Maybe they have some work to do yet. Chances are, though, it's the administration.

I guess it'll break when it breaks. It might not be a bad idea to send a couple of notes to the media. This is important stuff!

19. When charges are this serious, some politics fly out the window.
There's probably a struggle going on though. That's probably why we're seeing very different accounts of what/who is being investigated. Some accounts focus on Franklin only, while others (like this one) take a wider view.

23. In a real government with checks and balances politics is out where
law enforcement is concerned. But there has not been interest in enforcing the law against the administration so far, so this is a strange twist.

There is something else going on, but what?
