Associated Press Very few Republican delegates to the party's convention next week say they want Vice President Cheney to step aside. But about half do have opinions on who should replace him if he did so.
An Associated Press survey finds Secretary of State Colin Powell and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani top the list, with about nine percent each. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice was mentioned by seven percent, followed by Arizona Senator John McCain with five percent.
When asked who their replacement choice was, 45 percent of the delegates surveyed said “none.” That was the biggest single block, showing delegates are well aware President Bush's support of Cheney is solid. ..
