Justice Dept. Rebuffs Press Request for More Bush Guard Records
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 11:29 AM by mrsuomela
The Justice Department has told the Associated Press that the government does not possess any records that would shed further light on the mysteries of President Bush's Vietnam-era National Guard service, beyond those that have already been made public, a lawyer for the news agency said yesterday.

The Associated Press filed a lawsuit two months ago, demanding access to a microfilm copy of President Bush's entire Texas Air National Guard personnel record from an archive in Austin.
Lawyers and reporters for the AP are currently engaged in an exhaustive examination of the material that has been made public, making a list of key documents that are missing but that should be on the microfilm.

"We believe that we have identified some missing pieces," said AP general counsel Dave Tomlin. "Whether they're missing because they've disappeared from the file or because nobody ever generated them, we don't know. We're doing a sort of audit of them."

6. Maybe the Swift Boat boys can dig up someone to lie
They can claim they served on a secret mission with Bush, to locate and kill Colonel Kurtz, somewhere in Cambodia.

7. OK, here it comes: The Backlash
AP is definitely going to do a big BUSH AWOL summary story between now and the election, based on the way this is sorting out.

USA Today did a great AWOlk ? story this week, saying Big Questions still remain.

Micahel Moore has just written a Screamingly Funny e-column about Bush and Kerry's Military records -- and that is going to go far and wide. Further, he will be writing a weekly column for USA Today -- that also will get broadcast around the net, as well as seeing print.

Payback is beginning. Payback is a bitch. But as all Bible students know, "you reap what you sow."

9. I hope you're right
I am so tired of hearing negative stories about Kerry's Vietnam record while Bush* didn't even have the courage to serve. Bush's'* lack of service is the real story. I hope it comes out in spades.

15. Major Media Story soon??
Last month, www.rawstory.com was promising one of the 5 major US papers would be running a story demonstrating that the recently released payroll records prove bush was AWOL. I'm still waiting, and still checking their site.

13. Hey Asscrack...
why don't you release the records and let the people decide if they "would shed further light on the mysteries of President Bush's Vietnam-era National Guard service". I didn't know that was such a novel idea in a free and open society.

18. "...We're doing a sort of audit of them
and we'll get right back to you, once the election is over."

This is ludicrous. If the government thought for a second any one of us had anything to hide, or there were any questions about our background, they could probably unearth more stuff about us than we could ever begin to remember. I suppose when it's the president of the United-freakin-States, it's much harder to keep track of all those little details, eh?
