BBC: Bush to give CIA chief new powers
Snip from BBC News

US President George W Bush is to strengthen the CIA director's powers as he sets up a national counter-terrorism centre, the White House has said.
The moves are contained in executive orders to be signed by Mr Bush later on Friday, spokesman Scott McClellan said.

Under the plan, the CIA director will have temporary authority to act as a national intelligence director, Mr McClellan said.

The announcement follows calls for a thorough overhaul of US intelligence.

Mr McClellan said the changes would "improve our ability to find, track and stop terrorists".

1. Do we know what we are doing here?
I really worry about intelligence getting even more politicized than it already is.

7. They sure do! He will be accountable to no one but Bush
His role will be to fabricate any kind of evidence required to invade whomever we want. His role will be to make certain the Bush Crime Family's role in 9-11 is NEVER discovered. His role will be to implement and enforce the coming of martial law this fall. His role will be to prevent the CIA from outing Bush's crimes.

3. "Yeah, new powers!"
"Like X-Ray vision, that'd be cool! And maybe super strength, and super patriotism! And that thing, like Plastic Man can do, like stretch his arms and legs and stuff, and he could reach all the way to Iraq and snatch up Bin Laden! Plus, then I could call him 'Stretch'!

"I can do all that, right, Karl?"

He can use Rummy and Cheney at will and without any congressional oversight. Oh nevermind Bush can already do that.

10. "Terrorists"=Democrats (to them)
Anyone preventing Bush's world power grab is a terrorist in their eyes.

I worry about a pre-election sweep rounding up swing-state Democrats on BS charges.

Goss is already a CIA strongman. Word has gone out: this is Bush's choice, so do what he says.

Somewhat implicated on 9-11, I think he's got something to hide, whether it's his dirt or Bush's. We should not let anyone, particularly Goss, be given these additional powers. There will be no oversight and no accountability.

"I am a firm believer that all of us joined the CIA because we are
committed to the agency's mission," Krongard told agency employees,
"not because we want to be part of some government bureaucracy."
