AFL-CIO head jumps all over Bush in Tacoma
The News Tribune

John Sweeney, the AFL-CIO's mild-mannered president, delivered a fiery speech to union leaders in Tacoma on Thursday, portraying the election as a critical showdown for the working class and exhorting workers to do everything they can to defeat President Bush.

The November election is "the battle of our lives," Sweeney said.

"With your help, we're going to beat the son of a Bush," Sweeney told a crowd of about 600 cheering union delegates and guests gathered at the Sheraton Tacoma Hotel for the 2004 Washington State Labor Council Convention. ..

4. This is true up and down the labor front
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 08:07 AM by NewYorkerfromMass
My lawyer friend at AFSCME (and formerly with the Teamsters) says organized labor recognizes this is a fight for their very existence.
