Veterans to rally in Fayetteville for Kerry
Organizers of Saturday's rally for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry say they hope the event helps settle the controversy over Kerry's Vietnam war service.

"Veterans are tired of the veteran-against-veteran attacks," said Richard Basile of North Carolina Veterans for Kerry. "This rally should put an end to it."

Del Sandusky and Skip Barker, two swift boat sailors who served with Kerry, are scheduled to be at the 2 p.m. rally at Rowan Park.

The rally also will honor those who serve in the military.

"Where better to do that than Fayetteville?" Basile asked. "Fort Bragg is a national backdrop for troop deployments."
