Bush admits Iraq 'miscalculations'
As seen on the liberal alternative to Drudge: http://rawstory.com

NEW YORK (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) acknowledged for the first time on Thursday that he had miscalculated post-war conditions in Iraq (news - web sites), the New York Times reported.

The paper quoted Bush as saying during a 30-minute interview that he made "a miscalculation of what the conditions would be" in post-war Iraq.

But he insisted that the 17-month-long insurgency was the unintended by-product of a "swift victory" against Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s military, the Times reported.

Bush said his strategy had been "flexible enough" to respond. "We're adjusting to our conditions" in places like Najaf, the paper quoted him as saying.

veterans agreed that the words "reckless" and "stubborn" applied more to Bush than to Kerry. It was about the only thing Kerry bitch-slapped him on, so he's "adjusting".

17. LOL - I like the phrases "humble chimp" and introspective simian
I think you are right. This is dusting off a bit of the "humble super power" garbage of the last election campaign. There will be lots of such appeals to a more centrist position. It makes stealing the election seem more plausible, should that happen.

that these assclowns honestly thought that the Iraqi people would be overjoyed at seeing us wreak violence day after day in their streets. They're just lying scum, they knew how much violence this would take, and calculated that they could get the public to go for it all rah rah jingoistic style.

12. cripes . . . this is sooooooooooo stupid . . .
Does GWBush and Company really believe that the American public will all of a sudden accept this political move from-right-to-middle that its spewing of late?

S'mattah, Georgie, the poll numbers got you scared?

===================================
"I'm sure something will pop into my head." — GWBush,
when asked to name the biggest mistake he had made
since 9/11. Presidential press conference, Washington,
D.C., April 13, 2004.

"Mission Accomplished" - GWBush in military flight jumpsuit
aboard U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, May 1, 2003

"You're doin a superb job!" -- GWBush
referring to Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld's
abilities in Iraq during the first week of publicized
abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military, U.S.
intelligence, and U.S. private contractors,
May 10, 2004, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
press conference, after cries that Rumsfeld
should resign (or be fired).

Sources tell me that later sections of the interview will get into our Mars mission.

Head: US to Go to Mars, Bush tells RNC

paragraph 17, page 31: "Oh, and I really fucked up just about everything I've laid hands on, sorry! (Well, not really). My daddy's friends say they will fix it any day now. Hey, will ya look at this shiny golf club....."

39. The main reason why Bu$h miscalculated
is because he doesn't give a shit.

He doesn't give a shit about you, me, the Iraqi people, or even his supporters. He only cares about himself. Numero Uno.

Look at what he did to NYC. Then he's has the guts to show up, blowing a bullhorn, hugging on hero's for his photo op, and what has he done for NYC since. Nothing.

For a man, who couldn't even bother to get off his ass on 9-11, why should he care about the 1000's of dead and wounded troops that he sent to Iraq for his 'miscalculations'. Because he really doesn't give a hoot.

45. 'Miscalculations.' What an offensive word.
It's like he just momentarily thought twice two is five and made a little mistake.

Baloney. He invaded a sovereign state on false pretenses and he had to know the stated reasons were false. It was not a miscalculation. It was a coldly calculated war crime.

"Miscalculated... yeah, that's the ticket... tell the rubes we 'miscalculated' in Iraq!"

When a secret operation (read: Office of Special Plans) that takes a crapshoot and bends WMD intelligence goes bust, it can be written off as a "miscalculation."

Not.

A more appropriate term would be "impeachable offense."

51. Who Knew?
Who could have known that the largest military force in human history would swiftly prevail over a rusted-out third-rate army?

Who could have predicted that this dyspeptic army would flee into the cities, rather than wait in the open desert to be slaughtered?

Who possibly could have forseen that firing the whole army, and the entire public service, wouldn't stabilize the situation?

And the architect of this bit of statecraft wants four more years at the helm?
