If you thought you saw Margaret Thatcher in Richmond the past couple of days, well, maybe you did.
The former British prime minister arrived Monday on a personal visit and departed this afternoon, University of Richmond professor Gary L. McDowell said.
Thatcher visited Wilton House, the Museum and White House of the Confederacy, and Virginia Hall, along with the University of Richmond and the Jefferson Hotel, he said.
McDowell said the two knew each other from London. "I was director of the Institute of United States Studies and she was of my board. . . . We keep in touch."
.........
She did not talk about the arrest yesterday of her son, Mark Thatcher, in connection with an alleged plot to overthrow the president of Equatorial Guinea, McDowell said. "No, it was not a topic of discussion at all."
