U.S. will take no-fly lists from airlines
WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI)

Transportation Security Administration chief Adm. David Stone told lawmakers Wednesday that his agency would soon take over administration of the controversy-plagued terrorist "no fly" and "automatic selectee" lists from the airlines.

"In the coming days or weeks," Stone told the House Aviation panel, the TSA would roll out a program to "bring that (no-fly) list under the government umbrella so that we don't have a list of no-fly and selectees (distributed) worldwide (to) airlines."

Experts said there were numerous technical challenges to overcome, and some expressed skepticism that the agency would be able to move as quickly as Stone promised.

The two lists, which bear the names of thousands of known and suspected terrorists and others thought to pose a threat to aviation, are currently distributed to airlines, which use them to check the names of those booking flights. ..

2. This is good.
The government will ensure equality in screening more than any private, opressive, fat cat security firm. I would rather see planes hijacked than have people of color profiled for extra screening.

3. I'd rather see honesty as opposed to inflammatory garbage
And if you're gonna be goofy, at least try and be funny.

I have it on good advice that this process is a mess currently.

Think about it - each airline has its own list - it's not a very well coordinated effort, currently.

That's just a parody of a leftie, innit. Like Dennis Miller trying to be funny.

Other honest posts:

"I swear--I'll find a sperm donor & have an abortion (partial birth--just to piss off the christians!) and donate the stem cells."

Along with tender words for our dear friends in the North Korean govt.

6. great
More Big Brother at work. They need to abolish these lists because there are so many mistakes and no way to get off them if you are on it. Plus I don't believe anyone should get special treatment by beubg a "selectee" or whatever. Only Republicans get on that list. These lists can be twisted for political purposes (think of Nixon's "Enemies" list on a much larger scale). Environmentalists, protestors of various stripes, politcal oposition; the whole system reeks.
