WHEN it comes to smoking, Malaysian authorities have started hitting below the belt.

With the well-worn threat of an early death having been shrugged off by Malaysian smokers as a small price to pay for the pleasures of the weed, the Government is targeting their vanity. Men will become impotent and women get wrinkles, puffers are told in a series of advertisements in daily newspapers.

Across Asia, government efforts to encourage their citizens to stop smoking range from a nudge and a wink to experiments with Western-style shock tactics.

1. I am not too sure they all died from smoking related diseases

The corporatists have a strangle hold on Malaysia. There are no pollution controls and the air is filthy, the fish are dying in the rivers, ground waters are clogged with heavy metals and crops are weak and not sufficient to feed the citizens.

Yes, smoking may be killing Malaysians, but it runs a close race with pollution as the main cause of deaths.
