Forbes: Cherie Blair "12th most powerful woman in the world"
BBC News snip:

Mrs Blair gets power from her work and her husband, Forbes said.

The prime minister's wife, Cherie Blair, has been ranked the 12th most powerful woman in the world by business magazine Forbes.
She was one of six UK women to make the top 100 list, led by US National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.

Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher was ranked at 21, followed by the Queen at 22 and author JK Rowling at 85. Pearson chief executive Marjorie Scardino and London Stock Exchange boss Clara Furse also made the list.

The top three most powerful women were: Ms Rice; China's health minister and a vice-premier, Wu Yi; and the president of India's Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi. President Bush's wife, Laura, was placed fourth, followed by her predecessor as First Lady, Hillary Clinton at fifth place. The magazine described Mrs Blair as getting "her power both from her own work and from that of her husband".

Wonder how long before Forbes finally publishes next story: "Cherie Blair, daughter of massive fraudster Robert Maxwell, ranked 12th worst criminal on Planet Earth after Margaret Thatcher, Condoleezza Rice, Lilly Safra and Pamela Harriman"??????????????????

8. Laura Bush????? What the hell power does that woman have except
as a brain-dead wife of an unelected fraud?

Any 'power' she might have ever had she's used to undermine the rights of women everywhere by being a robot stepford wife. Remember all the big things she was going to do for Afgani women? What ever happened there. NOTHING! It was all talk.

I don't think she belongs in the top ten list of anything, unless it's a top ten list of bad examples for women.

2. I think Cherie Blair's farther was Tony Booth
an actor. I do not think she agrees with her husband on a lot of things. She even sued (and won) his government on behalf of a union just before the birth of her last child.

she is a lot more left wing than her husband. during the the 97 general election the tories tried to do a "hillary" on her trying to use her lefty politics against her.

5. RW'ers actually tried to score points by saying that she shouldn't be able
to have ANY job as wife of the PM (back in '99, IIRC).

It probably cost Tories 10s of thousands of women's votes.
