Obama Holds Commanding Lead Over Keyes, Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV Poll
CHICAGO, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Barack Obama has opened an even bigger lead over Alan Keyes than he had over Jim Ryan, according to the latest Chicago Tribune/WGN poll. Complete poll results appear in the Sunday, August 22, edition of the Chicago Tribune and online at http://chicagotribune.com .

The poll, conducted August 13-16, shows Obama with a 41 percent lead over Keyes. Obama sweeps all necessary constituencies by large margins, including African-American voters by 93 percent to 3 percent. Moreover, 51 percent of Illinois voters disapprove of the selection by Republican Party leaders of Alan Keyes as the candidate for senate.

Conservative Republican leaders said they recruited Keyes to enter the race because Obama was "out of the mainstream" with Illinois voters. But Obama leads among Moderates 76 percent to 10 percent and wins a good share of fairly conservative voters -- 49 percent.

1. Maybe Conservatives Will Realize...
they are out of the mainstream. Keyes is an extremist but I respected him because he seemed to walk the walk, until he denounced Hillary for running for a NY Senate seat and is now doing exactly the action he denounced.

2. RUMORED NUMBERS:
The real numbers are to be released on Sunday, however, I have it from a source that Obama is at 65 and Keyes is at 24.

Keyes lost four points after opening up his mouth AND is running six points behind where Ryan was when he dropped out.

Obama should't even debate the guy. He is officially a fringe candidate.

4. Keyes, the ultimate douchebag for liberty, is the face of the repug party
I love it. Keep opening yer yap Alan. The more you speak, the more the electorate is alienated.

8. Just what mainstream
are those rascals talking about? Seems to me, 76% of the voters (plus me) is pretty mainstream!

12. Yep, he lost 4 points
and is six behind where Ryan was when he quit.

Keyes' mouth is the best thing that ever happened to the Obama campaign. Plus, he'll be able to claim wiping up the floor with an out of state nationally known ringer brought in by the IL GOP.

The IL GOP is doing more to boost Obama's career than the DNC.
