Poll: Majority Wants to Oust Calif. Governor
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - With less than 50 days until political judgment day for Gov. Gray Davis, a majority of California voters say they want to remove the Democrat from office, according to a poll released on Thursday.

A Public Policy Institute of California telephone survey of 993 likely voters from Aug. 8 to Aug. 17 found 58 percent wanted to recall the Democrat, unpopular over his handling of state finances.

"A stagnant economy, a very public and unpopular budget drama and a distrustful electorate: All the makings of a perfect storm," said Mark Baldassare, who conducted the survey.

Republican actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who aired his first television commercials on Wednesday, led the survey among replacement candidates with 23 percent, with Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante in second place at 18 percent. The poll had a three percent margin of error.

1. 58% is hardly a supermajority
Not only that, but with all the publicity and name recognition, Ahnold is only 5% ahead of Bustamente.

This ain't a done deal by a long shot.

11. Supermajority?
What difference does it make if it's a supermajority? According to all the articles I've read, Davis gets ousted if he gets one vote less than 50% in the recall election. 58% is more than enough to give us Governor Ahnuld.

:-(

2. The psy-ops shall continue until you will be assimilated
California Dems better speak up any way you can - then show up and vote. If they railroad you, they can subvert anything.

4. Even Taco Bell cashing in....
Where's the beef?
-snip-
Meanwhile, the Taco Bell restaurant chain said it was running a poll of its own. According to newspaper ads running on Thursday, if a person buys a crunchy beef taco that would count as a vote for Schwarzenegger. A purchase of a soft chicken taco counts for Davis and a stuffed burrito would be deemed a vote for one of the other candidates.

(no language skewing here...eh?)

5. Oh, now that is a real scientific poll!
Sigh.

Never mind that Taco Bell sells more crunchy beef tacos than all their other products combined...they'll come out with their results showing Ahnold winning by 99%, and crow about it of course.

7. This is not an election between Davis and Arnold
The media, and not apparently corporations, are pushing this as Davis vs. Arnold. This is Davis vs. the right wingers and then Cruz vs. Arnold.

The fact that Taco Bell is doing this just adds more propaganda to the "Davis or Arnold, no one else matters" bullshit that the right wing media has been promoting.

We should call Taco Bell and tell them to stay out of the fucking election.

It should be Arnold or Cruz, what a bunch of assholes.
