3. What about. . .
a number for US troops lost in all this "intense" fighting in Najaf? Now I haven't done a search on Lexus/Nexus, but it strikes me that I haven't heard of one casualty in these two weeks of fighting. In the above cited article, the soldier died in Sadr city. OK, stupid question after all we've been through for the last three years, but why the hell isn't the media asking who's been hurt or killed?

6. "we retort- you comply" American media
In america troops are "GI" (government issue)-like Ms Rhodes says-expendable and forgettable-if we don't report their names now the dead will be easier to forget-we don't want to think about consequences in this country anymore-it is a disease that causes us to pile up massive debt and cut taxes because someone else has to pay for it, we consume ,in the SUV culture. oil and then expect it to be cheap and we go to war with minimal debate and hide the dead. Sad times.

7. officially, 10 US occupation forces have died there since it began again
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 07:16 AM by Aidoneus
I am told that there are hundreds that were seen injured to some varying degree (counted personally with her own eyes or gathered from other eyewitnesses), but official figures in this are unavailable. News reports, which only sporadically mention non-fatal hits, suggest at the least dozens of injured from the fighting.

The "media" are well trained and do what they're told.
