Bush Vows Push for More Military Benefits
By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer

Hoping to gather enough support in northwestern Wisconsin to turn the state his way in November, President Bush said Wednesday he will push for extra education benefits for National Guard members and reservists.

Bush said he would increase monthly education benefits for National Guard members and reservists who have been on active duty for more than 90 consecutive days.

The proposal came with the race between Bush and Democrat John Kerry extremely close in Wisconsin. Bush lost the state by fewer than 6,000 votes four years ago. ..

After this latest campaign swing, Bush heads south for a week at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

23. What Bush* is promising
will be just like the medicare drug bill.
Participating private technical schools will
give vets a discount card good for a free box of pencils, or a used typewriter.

2. EDUCATION BENEFITS?!?
What about HEALTH CARE benefits for these guys coming home with their arms and legs shot off...and health care benefits for their families too, since their employment opportunities are ruined thanks to Bush and his war of lies.

3. What Did They Do
Dust off his BS promises from four years ago. I could have sworn he's been saying this crap while he's been in the White House.

Then he tried to screw the troops that were deployed, and threatened to veto a bill that would have allowed military retirees to collect both their disability pay and retirement pay.

If the military beleives this crap, they all better look at the fact that he's been trying to fight a war on the cheap, and it's them coming home with parts missing or in large aluminum containers.

It's the NG and Reservist coming home to jobs that were cut, or to promised promotions that were given to another employee. If they vote for this idiot, then they deserve every level of hell that he's going to send them to.

I speak as a veteran and the husband of an active duty USAF Master Sergeant.

7.  Bush, the encumbent should NOT be running on "promises"
.. he should be running on his record. That is a point that is missed by political analysts sometimes. An encumbent has had 4 years to work in the job, Bush's stump speeches should NOT be about promises and vows, it should be about what he's accomplished. He has CUT benefits to the military and their families. I would hope the voters would be smart enough to realize that Bush is not running on his record... because it's sucks. The challenger promises.. the encumbent reports.

13. ...But first, he needs to cut them so he has something
to claim he gave to the military.

Actually, that's probably the best way to build a supply of cannon fodder for his unholy war: 1) make a college education too inaccessible for anyone but the wealthy; 2) promise more ed benefits to reservists.

14. What a joke. He treats vets and current troops like crap for 4 years...
and now he's going to offer promises of something better? How many fucking broken promises do people need to see before they know this guy is full of it. Every state and local government in this country is still looking for the promised help to increase security. It's as simple as that. If he can't keep his promise on homeland security, he can't keep his promise on any fucking thing.

19. Too little too late...
Anyone who can't see this as a political tactic (and then
realize its weak) is not thinking. Bush is a better politician
than most give him credit for. He might just get the attention
of the undecided's with some positive P.R. - P.S. Where's
Cheney been lately? Its like they've been hiding him and
Rumsfeld....

20. Absolutely laughable!! He should have thought about this a LONG
time ago before he sent everyone off to die! I think they are more worried about housing, food, healthcare, and jobs NOT education when they get home, IF they do!

He's a clueless nut. Hollow acorn. Sterile seed. This seed won't sow.

Well anyway now I'm done with trying to be funny as a release for the frustration I feel over the fact they think people are so damned stupid as to absolutely make empty promises and at this late date! :eyes:

25. Oh, oh - this means he's getting ready to CUT more veterans' benifits.
I look at what he does, not what he says.

What he does is usually the opposite of what he says he's going to do.

Honor & integrity restored.

Right.
