Southern Mills, Ryan International Airlines plan (Atlanta) job cuts (-342)

An airline and a local textiles company plan to close facilities in metro Atlanta and cut a total of 221 jobs, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

Union City- based Southern Mills plans to close in Newnan and will cut 100 jobs starting Oct. 12. Southern Mills manufactures thermal protective fabrics and industrial textile products.

Wichita, Kan.-based Ryan International Airlines plans to close in Forrest Park and will cut 121 jobs starting Nov. 3. The airline carries cargo and passengers.
