GOP Criticizes Democrat's Contribution (from "radical left-wing group")

LINCOLN, Neb (AP)

The Nebraska Republican Party is criticizing 1st District Democratic candidate Matt Connealy for taking donations from a group that urged the United States to talk with the Taliban government before attacking Afghanistan.

David Kramer GOP Chairman David Kramer called on Connealy Tuesday to explain his relationship with the Council for a Livable World. The Council is an arms-control advocacy group founded in 1962 by nuclear physicist Leo Szilard and other scientists.

Kramer called the council a "radical" and "left-wing group" that is calling for arms reduction. ..

Kramer was asked if negotiating with the Taliban to turn over Osama bin Laden might have been worth it if it had saved the lives of Americans. He called the question "speculation." The council and its members have given Connealy $5,500 for his race against Republican Jeff Fortenberry. Connealy's camp has said that Republicans are engaging in unfounded attacks.

and a resident of the 1st Congressional district, that type of crap doesn't surprise me at all. Hypocrisy is the name of the game with the local GOP. I've written at least a dozen letters to the editor of the Lincoln Journal Star pointing this out, and have not had a single letter printed. Its unbelievable.

Just last week they were complaining that the university has invited Moore to come speak hear, and it looks like he may come, at a cost of $40,000. The university will sell tickets to the event and make a nice profit off of it. That didn't stop KKKramer. He bitched that it was using taxpayer money to pay for a political rally. He failed to mention that in the last 4 months the City of Lincoln had to spend $35,000 for security for a private Cheney fundraiser and that Omaha had to spend $37,000 for security to a private Laura B* fundraiser.

The local TV station is going to make this its "Top Story" at 6pm, I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle it.

in a deal to get them to control drug trafficking, which is now worse than ever. One network in the last week had a report about poppy fields that take 4 hours to drive from one end to the other. But that report failed to mention those millions that Colin Powell delivered to the Taliban in spring of 2001.
