GMAC Will Close Texas Call Center (Layoff Update)
General Motors Acceptance Corp., the finance unit of General Motors Corp., the world's largest automaker, plans to cut 197 jobs and close its call center in League City, Texas.

EDIT

Gateway Inc., a computer maker based in Poway, Calif., will outsource some technical and manufacturing units by Sept. 30 as well as lay off hundreds of workers in Kansas City and North Sioux City, S.D.

The company wouldn't specify how many positions were affected in the two states, though a spokesman said it was between 100 and 500 jobs. Employees were told of the cuts last week."
