News Corp eyes US as profits soar (Murdoch/Fox News)

Media giant News Corporation is stepping up plans to move its global headquarters from Australia to the US.

The firm, which owns the Fox TV studios in the US and the Sun newspaper in Britain, will put the proposal to investors next month.

News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch said he was confident of receiving enough votes "to make this plan a reality".

The news came as the company unveiled fourth-quarter net profits of $399m (£218m), up from $370m last year. ..

A plan to reincorporate News Corp in the US was approved by the company's board last week. ..

3. There could actually be a very bright side to this.

If we can ever win a radical left-wing majority in Congress again (think FDR and the New Deal Dems of the 1930s), we can restore the Anti-Trust Laws and demolish Murdoch's media empire. Take it one step further and destroy corporate personhood, and we could revoke News Corp's charter, seize and divide up the company's assets. News Corp, as a U.S. incorporated company would rightly be subject to the laws of this nation.

I doubt if Murdoch has even considered this possibility. After all, he, men like Dick Cheney, and the neo-conservative, neo-fascist/corporatist GOP will doubtlessly live and last forever! :eyes:
