Feds: "We Disrupted Al-Queda Plans"
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/07/30/national/main633064.shtml

(CBS/AP) The Bush administration believes it has undermined al Qaeda's plans for attacking the United States with the recent arrests of suspected terrorists and the seizure of detailed surveillance of financial buildings.

"I certainly think that by our actions now that we have disrupted it," said Frances Fragos Townsend, President Bush's homeland security adviser. "The question is, have we disrupted all of it or a part of it? And we're working through an investigation to uncover that," she said in a broadcast interview.

Townsend said it is not clear how much has been uncovered about a potential plot around the November presidential election. "This certainly looks like it was a piece of it," she told CBS News' Face the Nation.

SNIP

In cooperation with U.S. intelligence agencies, authorities in Pakistan and Britain have detained suspected al Qaeda operatives, while computer files uncovered in Pakistan contained surveillance information of five financial sites in New York, Washington and Newark, N.J. The United States issued a terror alert based on that information.

Some have questioned whether the warnings were politically motivated.....

1. Bill Clinton disrupted them numerous times...
...but he didn't publicly pat himself on the back for it like this - and he got ZERO credit for it when he or anyone else did mention it - he was instead accused of trying to divert attention from Monica and his penis.

I don't see the big deal here, therefore.

Further, much of this is probably bu$hit propoganda - manufactured, that is...to make bu$h LOOK like he's doing his job in time for the election.

If he WAS doing his job, he wouldn't have to parade his naked a** in the streets to announce his clothes. He'd just modestly wear them like a REAL President. That he is no such thing necessitates such narcissistic tactics.

2. This leaves them wide open for a "hit." Better keep their mouths shut.
As someone pointed out is about 8 years between attacks for the first WTC and 9/11.

3. "have we disrupted all of it or a part of it?"
If they hadn't played the work of Great Britain and Pakistan for the purpose of US politics, they might have a much better idea of the answer to that question.

Seems to me that the only real work that was done here was done by British and Pakistani authorities. The Bush administration seems to be trying to take credit for their successes, lacking any of their own, and blowing the undercover operation wide open in the process.

5. How is blowing the cover of our moles disrupting...
anyone but ourselves.

the more we shot ourselves in the foot, the more bin Ladan roots for Bush to win so he and Cheney can continue to help the terrorists.
