Proposed Texas waste site draws developer
Published Sunday
August 8, 2004
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

A Dallas company is the sole applicant for a license to develop a disposal site in west Texas for low-level radioactive waste.

Friday was the deadline for license applications to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

A future waste site in Texas has been suggested as a solution for Nebraska's headaches with the Central Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact.

Nebraska faces a $151 million judgment to be paid to the compact for blocking construction of a low-level radioactive waste facility within its borders.

1. Yes, Perry would be glad to take $30 mil to poison West Texas
while saving Nebraska $150 mil - that's his job as the governor of Nebraska - to get a good deal for Nebraska and not giving a shit about Texans!

What?

Perry's the governor of TEXAS?! WTF is up with that?

(The only irony in here is that when, not if, this license is issued, and when, not if, it leaks, it will poison all the water that a bunch of politicos and rich guys from elsewhere want to steal for pennies and sell to the eastern part of the state!)

After all, nobody who counts lives out here in West Texas, right?

3. I hope SRIC will follow this!

And in Carlsbad on June 30, 2003 a Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) employee stated that if Carlsbad were to be chosen for the modern plutonium pit manufacturing facility, radioactive waste could be sent to the Andrews, Texas mixed waste site or to the re-permitted Triassic Park.
