GOP candidate has long record — in jail

to run for auditor.

OLYMPIA — The state Republican Party this week picked a candidate fresh out of jail for harassing politicians to run against Democratic state Auditor Brian Sonntag.

After no other Republican filed to run against Sonntag, party officials on Thursday filed Will Baker, well known in his hometown of Tacoma and at the Pierce County Jail but apparently not at GOP headquarters.

Yesterday, the party was trying to get Baker "unfiled," which state election officials say can't be done without court action.

The article says that Baker was formerly an exotic dancer and is currently a roadside flower-seller (like Eliza Dolittle?) and conspiracy theorist with jail time under his belt.

So how did the repukes choose him, out of all the people in the world? Beats me. Maybe the Elephant Party just picks names out of a hat, or something.

Baker, a 41-year-old roadside flower salesman and self-styled political activist, has been arrested at least 19 times since 1992, mostly for refusing to stop speaking at Tacoma City Council and Pierce County Council meetings. He was last released from jail less than two months ago.
