Bosch layoffs will hit workforce hard (530 jobs - Michigan)

St. Joseph, MI - Bosch Corporation is laying off over 500 employees, which is over half of its employees. It is Berrien County's third largest employer so it's preparing to do all it can to soften the blow.

Michigan Works! will be brought in to help match people up with similar manufacturing jobs but, there is concern as more and more manufacturing jobs are moving overseas.

Production will end there and where they make low-volume disc brakes.

The 530 jobs that will be cut will happen in phases. They account for almost 50% of the workforce at Bosch.

The jobs that remain could even be in question as there will be pressure on them to reduce costs even further. Bosch says these layoffs are due to pricing pressures in the brake industry.
