Republican Lawmakers Criticize Daschle (TV Ad)

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP)

Nearly 50 Republicans in the South Dakota Legislature have signed a letter calling an ad by Senator Tom Daschle misleading. ..

.. The 60-second spot features a Rapid City master's student thanking Daschle for securing nearly $900,000 for a program at Dakota State University in Madison.

The lawmakers contend Daschle is taking credit for work done by former Governor Bill Janklow and the South Dakota Legislature. ..

.. Daschle's campaign staff says there's no reason to yank the commercial and has no plans to interrupt its airing.
