BAGHDAD (AFP) - The Iraqi hostage crisis deepened with two beheadings and the threatened execution of further captives, as an Al-Qaeda affiliated group warned it would attack an Arab or Muslim force mooted for Iraq .
A national conference seen as a milestone towards democracy was delayed from Saturday to mid-August at the request of the UN, which wanted more time to pull in groups reluctant to attend, officials said.
The postponement had nothing to do with the worsening security situation in Baghdad and around Iraq, where more than 120 people died Wednesday in bombings and attacks and abductions have become a virtual daily occurrence, an organizer of the event said. <snip>
