Dems continue to parade their new mascot (Giant Head - "Job Terminator")
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP)

It seems the Democratic Party has a mascot for Ben Chandler's gubernatorial campaign - a giant foam head.

The Democrats' "Job Terminator" is a larger-than-life caricature of Chandler's Republican opponent, Ernie Fletcher.

Fancy Farm's political picnic marked the mascot's first public appearance. Since then he's shown up at gubernatorial debates in Mount Sterling and Louisville and even a solo Fletcher news conference. -

Playing off the Arnold Schwarzenegger "Terminator" movies, the foam head bears a striking resemblance to Fletcher. Like Schwarzenegger's character, it's wearing sunglasses.

Nickolas may consider it "lighthearted and fun" but Republicans are not laughing. Fletcher spokesman Wes Irvin said most Fancy Farm spectacles should be left there, not brought to more serious events. -

"It seems to have succeeded in doing one of the key things we wanted, which is energizing Democrats and making Republicans mad," Derouen said.

8. Dems need to use this tactic often
One of the reasons the right is so successful is that it's constantly poking fun at the center and the left.

Two can--and should--play at this game.

9. Very, very good point!
And our advantages are:
1) Most humorists are Democrats, and
2) The right wing is a much richer target for lampoonery.
