Inquiry will back intelligence that Iraq sought uranium
http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.co...

By Mark Huband in London
Financial Times;

"A UK government inquiry into the intelligence used to justify the war in Iraq is expected to conclude that Britain's spies were correct to say that Saddam Hussein's regime sought to buy uranium from Niger."

I'm glad this is coming out so far in advance of the election. The last thing we need is for people to think Bush wasn't lying.

Hopefully they'll provide us with more fine cartoon illustrations about it, too.

No problem there. Most everyone knows he was lying, the rest are in denial and nothing we can do will ever change that. There are those unfortunates, through no fault of their own are constitutionally unable to tell the truth.

5. Hopefully they will provide us with more than crude obvious forgeries
to make their case.

Perhaps they can shed light on who forged the infamous Niger-Iraq docs?

...or will they just sweep that under the rug too.

They better provide some solid evidence - not just some spook hearsay - before I will accept their findings.

9. It got moved because it was accidentally posted twice...
But it is late breaking. The Boston globe ran the headline just 40 minutes ago:

Senate report offers backing for claim Iraq sought uranium in Africa

By Matt Kelley, Associated Press, 7/9/2004 17:05
WASHINGTON (AP) A Senate report criticizing false CIA claims that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction at the same time provides support for an assertion the White House repudiated: that Iraq sought to buy uranium in Africa.

14. Wrong. They lock dupes, they don't spread them out among forums.
And I reiterate, this is bullshit. Josh Marshall detailed this about a week ago.

17. Reports that no one believed were around before the forgeries - So?
reports of "possible Iraqi attempts to buy uranium in the African nation of Niger - from France no less - mean what if the CIA looks at them and says not credible because Iraq already had 500 tons of yellow cake, and there is no report of requests for more from Niger - only a report that Iraq wanted to have ''expanding commercial relations'' - which was reported by CIA payroll person former Nigerien Prime Minister Ibrahim Mayaki re a meeting with Iraqi officials in 1999.

Indeed Joseph Wilson, a retired U.S. diplomat the CIA sent to investigate the Niger story, also found evidence of Iraqi "contacts with Nigerien officials", the report said - and noted that they meant nothing (something the AP story somehow forgot!).

I doubt that more than the few in the AP and the rest of the whore US media that is trying to sell Bush in this election will "believe" Bush is not a liar.

15. The Labor Party wants to ditch "Phony Tony" ASAP

They are taking massive hits because of his stupidity in assisting Bu$h in invading Iraq, and want Blair to step down. Blair is will now do anything he can to save his sorry ass.

Telling more lies is not going to help him, or Bu$h.
