Germany to extradite U.S. man who ran away with British schoolgirl

BERLIN, Aug. 14 — The German government approved the extradition to Britain of a 32-year-old former U.S. Marine who faces charges of abducting a British schoolgirl, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Toby Studabaker has been held in a prison near Frankfurt since police arrested him in the German city on July 16, four days after he and Shevaun Pennington, 12, ran away to Paris.

'The federal government has approved the extradition,'' Frankfurt prosecutor Gernot Broschat told The Associated Press by telephone. ''You can expect things to go pretty quickly now.''
