Moore film a hot ticket
'Fahrenheit 9/11' energizes the anti-Bush multitudes

This just in: President Bush is the guy Bay Area moviegoers love to hate, if the throngs that packed theaters for Friday's opening of "Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore's blistering anti-Bush film, were any indication.

No surprise, of course, given the politics of much of the Bay Area, but even with fervid lefties crowding into the movies at the ungodly hour of 10 in the morning, the depth of reaction to Moore's highly emotional movie was remarkable for its intensity.

In San Francisco, the largest theater in the Loew's Metreon was nearly filled to its 600-seat capacity -- and this was for a documentary, hardly the kind of hot ticket that normally has fans racing through the turnstiles. During the 19 minutes of advertising and previews consisting largely of cars and trucks smashing into each other, the impatient audience hissed.

And once "Fahrenheit 9/11" was on the screen, it was safe to say there were few diehard Republicans applauding scenes where Moore was skewering Bush or such other movie villains as Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Attorney General John Ashcroft.

4. I'm in Portland
and I'm planning to see it today. If I can get in, that is.

We're taking the whole family. And we're even going to buy a King-Size tub of popcorn, just to reward the theater for its bravery.

7. Fahrenheit 9/11 sets US alight
For the second time in a week, the liberals of New York stood in line for their cultural sustenance.

On Monday night they waited to snatch the first autographed copies of the memoirs of the former Democratic president Bill Clinton.

On Wednesday they went to watch Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, a film aimed, at least in part, at ending the incumbency of the current Republican president, George Bush.

The film officially opens today in 900 theatres -- three times as many as for Moore's previous film, the Academy Award-winning Bowling for Columbine. But New Yorkers got an early sight, along with premiere-goers in Washington DC.

It's more. It's the survival of our Nation.

10. Wife of Republican Senator cheats MMoore out of royalties?
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 04:36 PM by Ewan I Bushwackers
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_world/view/92201/1/.html

"Lynda Bond, 47, a fervent Republican whose husband is an elected official, came mainly to confirm that the incendiary movie was nothing but a string of lies.

"I wanted to see it to understand what everyone was talking about," Bond said. "It is extremely misleading. I bought a ticket for another movie and then came to see this one. I wouldn't give Michael Moore my money."

Senator Kit Bond's (R-MO) wife is named "Linda". I think this woman may have just confessed to committing a crime.

Edited to add:

Kit Bond's wife, Linda Bond, is a fundraising consultant. There is a Linda Bond who lives in a ritzy area of DC at this address and phone number:

Bond, Linda
4227 Fordham Rd NW
WASHINGTON, DC 20016
202-237-6635

Maybe it's the same "Lynda" Bond who cheated Moore out of his royalties?
