Saddam agents arrested over murder (Kirkuk's Oil Chief)

TWO veterans of Saddam Hussein's defunct security service were arrested in Kirkuk for murdering the security chief for Iraq's northern oil field, Ghazi Talabani, and his bodyguard, the Kirkuk police chief said today.

"Two suspects were arrested and the car which resembled the vehicle used in the attack was seized," said General Turhan Yussef.

The suspects' homes had been searched and police turned up their identity cards, linking them to Saddam's Special Security Organisation.

They were turned over to the US military for interrogation.

Mr Talabani and his bodyguard died in a hail of bullets yesterday outside his home in Kirkuk, 255km north of Baghdad.
