Car Bomb Kills at Least Two Near Iraq Army Base

----
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A car bomb exploded near a U.S.-Iraqi military base in Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least two people, a Reuters witness said.
The blast went off at one of the gates to an Iraq army recruiting base located in the city's heavily fortified Muthanna airport, where U.S. troops are also based.
One man lay dead in a battered white car after the explosion, as Iraqi soldiers, rescuers and locals milled about in confusion. Another body lay on the road.
The U.S. military had no immediate word on the blast, the latest in a series of attacks by guerrillas determined to undermine Iraq's interim government ahead of a planned June 30 transfer of power from the U.S.-led occupation.

7. What gives?
Seriously. This article is dated 9 days ago. Normally I'd call that an error but you are an old hand here. You know this stuff. Is there something I'm missing?

Forgive me -- the situation was a little complex. There are actually two incidents going on at once in Iraq:

"Deadly bomb blast in central Baghdad
At least 15 people have been killed and about 70 others injured in a massive car bombing of the Civil Defence Corp recruitment centre in Baghdad."

AND

"Just an hour earlier, a US soldier died of wounds sustained during a rocket attack on an occupation force base in Iraq as Baghdad comes under intense attack."

These pictures are terrible. How do 'they' know these people are dead? It seems to me that professional medical personnel are not checking. Look at the yahoo slide show on this link and see how they're throwing dead bodies around.

We still have no word who the 21 were in the attack on the base this morning and are they wounded or dead?

Huge Explosions at US Base in Kirkuk, Northern Iraq.

http://www.atsnn.com/story/55482.html

I still think 1000 USWIA are being shipped to Landstuhl
every month. 20% serious brain injuries.

I think the USArmy is being destroyed in
Iraq.

Car Bombs Kill 41 in Iraq, Targeting Security Services Ahead of Handover

By Danica Kirka Associated Press Writer
Published: Jun 17, 2004

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Car bombers targeted Iraq's security services Thursday, blasting Iraqis hoping to join the military in Baghdad and a civil defense post north of the capital, killing 41 people and wounding nearly 150.

Most of the victims were poor Iraqis desperate to take dangerous jobs in the Iraqi security forces because of a lack of alternatives in a country with up to 45 percent unemployment. They took their chances at the recruitment center in Baghdad even though a car bombing killed 47 people there in February.

"I have been coming for three weeks and they decided to interview us today," Abdul Wahid Shadhan, 32, said as he lay in a hospital bed coughing up blood. "I heard a big explosion, I lost sight of everything and then I found myself in the hospital."

Shadhan said he had been out of work since the Americans disbanded the Iraqi army last year. "I was obliged to work as a porter to feed my seven children," he told The Associated Press.

The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns
6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas
to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and
the soldiers follow the flag. --Smedley Butler USMC 1933
