U.S. Iraq Military Deaths - 828 U.S. service members have died

As of Wednesday, June 16, 828 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq (news - web sites) last year, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 609 died as a result of hostile action and 219 died of non-hostile causes. snip

Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush (news - web sites) declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 690 U.S. soldiers have died � 500 as a result of hostile action and 190 of non-hostile causes, according to the military.
