Jerry Brown says it's Arnold's race to lose
Washington Rag - Times (Shivers, I like JB)

A key California Democrat yesterday all but conceded the gubernatorial race to Arnold Schwarzenegger, while the state's senior U.S. senator focused on saving the party rather than Gov. Gray Davis.

"I think Davis right now, obviously, is the underdog. Schwarzenegger is basically the incumbent," said former Gov. Jerry Brown, mayor of Oakland.

"He is on Time and Newsweek. He is the popular man. And with all this flurry, he is on top. It's his to lose," Mr. Brown said on CNN's "Late Edition With Wolf Blitzer." --

"If Schwarzenegger has an answer to the revenue crisis, and he can get ... criminals off the streets of Oakland, I may vote for him," Mr. Brown said. ---

15. I Voted for Brown in 92
The guy who's banner you proudly fly in your post has a lot in common with Brown's campaign, starting with the strategy of reaching out to disaffected voters who were tired of entrenched powers in Washington, tired of huge wealthy campaign donors and corps.

IIRC, the biggest derailer to Brown's campaign came when charges were produced that people like the Eagles' Don Henley had been seen sniffing coke at Brown's house in the 1970s.

So don't be too shocked when they try to do it to Dean on something equally stupid.

The press is in LOVE with an Arnold campaign. We may not like what Brown is saying here, that doesn't mean there's no truth in it.

11. Did anyone see that woman gushing over Arnold on CBS
who she said she was a Democrat? It has to be his star power. What are the Californians going to do after he gets elected, just ogle him when they lose their job, or get hungry? You sure can't live on love.

6. Terrific! Time to fold up your tent and go home, eh Jerry?
NOT!

Instead, why not speak out loudly (and, I mean REALLY speak out against this recall)...and get Oakland voters to the polls on October 7?!? Is that too much to ask for, Jerry? Geez!

7. God, protect me from friends, cuz the enemies I can handle
Last seen, Jerry was throwing primadona tantrums at the Dem convention that nominated Clinton. He seems to be consistent, if incoherent.

8. Maybe tongue in check
Ahnuld ain't got a solution for the budget crisis, nor for crime in the streets in Oakland. Governor Moonbeam's vote is safe.

9. KamaAina says Jerry Brown has already lost it
Disclaimer: I lived in Oakland (San Antonio/Fruitvale area) for a few months in the mid-'80s. I had high hopes that "Mayor Moonbeam" could get things turned around. Oakland is, after all, about the last place anyone can afford to live in the entire Bay Area.

Instead crime is way up, the so-called liberal Brown was promoting a public military academy (as a charter school), he just canned his capable city manager (Robert Bobb) -- and now, this. He's practically stumping for the steroid-addled Repuke yuckball.

In the words of the immortal George Carlin, "It's like he's a parody of himself, man!"

14. Never heard that
when would that have happened?

I read it differently than everyone else. I read him challenging arnie to give a plan for solving the budget crisis and "crime in the street" - and then I might vote for you too..... As in HE DOESN"T HAVE A PLAN.

But maybe that is just me trying to figure out why the heck he would say this.

18. Boy the Republicans are really sinking the dollars on this scam
All this person had to do was announce and 6 months worth of PR pops up automatically. He's been running for what...four days...He doesn't have a thing to say, is rather immoral for a Republican.... and the Democrats are conceding????????? What nefarious Rove scheme is this?
