Man killed by deputies on Mount Lemmon complicates Bush visit
Tucson Citizen

An unidentified man was killed after confronting Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies at a roadblock set up for the presidential visit early this morning on Catalina Highway.

Normally, a shooting such as this would close a roadway down for some time, but because of the presidential visit, Secret Service officials were working with deputies to clear the roadway in time for Bush's Summerhaven visit, said Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Steve Easton. ---

1. Wow...they're terrified of the people
I mean, they're scared of taking Bush through an area where a confrontation with police is already over???

They're terrified of us. How the hell do they intend to get anywhere near Ground Zero to lay their cornerstone????

2. Go back and look at c-span the day Bush took office.
The mood was mean and Bush was not going to get out and walk with the people. Look what happened on 911, see what they have done to DC and see where he talks. BUsh is in fear of the people.

10. He is terrified of the American people
which is why he NEVER speaks before anybody unless they are handpicked. Look at his speech at Yale his first year, or the one at Ohio State.

Imagine if they set up a podium in Central Park and any old Joe could walk in? He'd run away. The man is a COWARD.

15. NYC becomes a troubling thought
They seem to have a plan they are sure will work. It can't be just a photo op, although in a city that large maybe they CAN roust up a few thousand Bush enthusiasts and inflate the effect.

They seem to expect another terror war shift merely by having the convention there- or complete Dem inadequacy.

3. After running road block - turns around to go home - and is shot
the man began driving back down the mountain toward deputies at the base roadblock, Easton said.

Deputies, fearing for their safety, fired at the man. The man was hit at least once and taken to University Medical Center, where he died a short time later

5. junior was going to Mount Lemmon?
Been there many times, it is a small small place on top of a mountain, the only other way off the mountain is a dirt road and use to be fairly hard to access. Catalina Highway is paved. Why wouldn't they use a helicopter junior to the top.

This smell fishy!! Who would he be visiting?

12. Weren't they planning on using a chopper to get Chimp to Mt. Lemmon?
Read in the Star the other day that he was landing at DM Air Force base and taking a helicopter to the mountain. Yep it does seem he is afraid of We The People and wants no part of driving past Havocpup and any clever sign she would come up with!

So they close down a whole National Forest to make the world safe for the shrubster to go for a walk outside and ramble about letting the loggers have their way in the forests?

The Healthy Forest program he is gonna push would not have saved Summerhaven even if enacted years ago. There is no real commercial interest in the few trees in that very small forest. Big Timber would not have bothered to thin those trees. And thanks to Bush budget cuts, the Forest Service doesn't have the bucks either! So he is using other people's tragedies, for which he may be partly responsible, to further the BFEE adgenda of turning national assest to private companies. And I am willing to wager the Mt Lemmon footage shows up in a campagine spot or two nest year.

13. They'd need the 60-inch telescope on Mt. Lemmon to view *'s brain...
and even that might not have enough aperture.

14. AP: 100 people protested
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 03:29 PM by goobergunch
<snip>

About 100 people gathered along the highway leading to the mountaintop community on Monday to protest the forest initiative. One protester held a sign reading: "Bush Plan Equals Greed." Another sign said: "Who Burned Summerhaven?"

16. Coincidentally, the divine visitor's pathway is splashed with libation ...
The blood of some freshly killed innocent, no less? Is that any way to
welcome the modern-day monarchist, this boy emperor in monster's
clothing? You bet it is!
