2. Tentative good news
Many of the respondents may have been aware of Reagan's death, but the week long almost entirely positive media coverage of him had not yet really kicked in. I don't know why Gallup couldn't wait a few days so as to get a more accurate poll.

3. Where is all of that liberal media trumpeting these numbers?

Where are the CNN talking heads talking about how bad this is for Bush and how the "once popular" President has fallen?

4. RR and polls
thank god this free ad for RW values did not happen Oct 24.

Thank god , god sent RR to the foul area below hell , long before the election. A foul region where conditions are equal to the task of righting the scales of justice. A place RR will be stuck for a very long, long, long time.

This bump, if it happens, will fade from the polls in a few weeks, tops.

I advise all to avoid the media praise for RR, if you wish to stay strong. It will only upset you.

7. Easy does it.
Almost nobody watches cable"news". Why would they? Its boring.

58 yrs. old is their average viewer. Its all preaching to the converted. Check this site carefully.

Check the other parts. Did you know there are only 1495 daily newspapers in the USA? Thats not much of a job market.

Please check it out. I was amazed,I thought I knew about the Media.

6. This poll bucks conventional wisdom
(this is what I said in another thread on this poll)

because dubya's approval rating is up, and yet he moves down again in the horserace.

Also, Kerry's lead is the largest amongst "likely voters" in which he leads 50-44, whereas he leads bush by least amount among "adults" when usually the opposite would be true.

This is the first time any candidate held a lead outside of the MOE since April 16 when bush did, and the first time Kerry broke through 50% since March 5, coming off the primary wins.

Overall, I want to say this poll is very good news for Kerry, but the discrepency between *'s approval rating and his performance in the horserace leaves me wondering.

9. Oh please.
Your looking for fly shit in the pepper. Approval has the edge of "POTUS". Bad as Bush is,he still gets maybe 5%. No American whats to admit their leader is a failure.

Just my $.20(its the inflation, you understand)

10. You're wrong, approval is very important,
if not more important that the horserace numbers at this point.

bushthefather was at 36% approval at this point, and Carter was at 32%.

This is not the time to throw our hands in the air and celebrate, its time to work our asses off.

8. likely voters 50-44
That's what they've used in the past. Interesting that they aren't this time. And the blue and purple states are way ahead for Kerry and he's very close in the red states. This poll looks pretty good, but he's got to come up with something to convince people on terrorism.

11. 5% is moving
outside the margin of error, however it is NO more than Gore received in 2000. I'm sure these numbers will improve as the campaign gains steam. chimp however is down to about what Dole got in 1996, he has nowhere to go but down.
