NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold Inc., criticized last year for selling electronic voting machines while its chairman raised money for Republican political candidates, has banned its senior executives from making such donations.

The article neglects to mention that all the Diebold top executives HAVE ALREADY GIVEN THE MAXIMUM TWO GRAND to the Shrub's reelection this year!

Absolute scum liars!

1. We believe them!!
I know it's not a race to be first...but I can't believe there has been no comment on this article!

Agreed, yardwork, they are absolute scum liars.

I was once a supporter of elctronic voting to bring elections to the masses until I realized how damn partisan fricking Diebold was.

2. So they pass the amendment
AFTER they've raised all that money, hmmm? How convenient.

The whole debate over what's free, fair, good, or bad for the country is moot if the elections are rigged.

6. long-time Diebold board member Timken
Since 1991 the Timken Company and members of the Timken family have contributed more than a million dollars to the Republican Party and to GOP presidential candidates such as George W. Bush.

One example:

to George W. Bush

Number 31. William W. R. Timken Jr. Timken Ohio $330,292

Example AFTER O'Dell made his statement about the electoral votes of Ohio:

"We have banked already an unbelievable $600,000 from the Akron-Canton area," Timken said. "It's only our first event and we still have some cleaning up to do."

Cheney cashes in for GOP at fund-raiser
Fairlawn event brings in $600,000; critics try to get message out

Akron Beacon Journal http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/news/local/6209023.htm

<snip>With the presidential primaries nearly a year away, the campaign season already has begun, with Vice President Dick Cheney in town to raise money Monday night. But when Cheney arrived about 5:30 Monday evening, he was whisked through a distant driveway and into a back entrance. He probably missed the protest sign that said: ``Bush leaves no millionaire behind.''

Indeed, the reception hall at the Hilton was populated with about 250 of the Akron-Canton area's wealthiest and most influential executives, among them W.R. ``Tim'' Timken, chairman of the Timken Co.; Charles J. Pilliod and Tom Barrett, retired chief executives for Goodyear Tire & Rubber; FirstEnergy top executives Peter Burg and Anthony Alexander; and entrepreneurs and lawyers David and Ann Brennan.

Timken was invited to the microphone by Summit County Republican Party Chairman Alex Arshinkoff to give the most important news.
``We have banked already an unbelievable $600,000 from the Akron-Canton area,'' Timken said. ``It's only our first event and we still have some cleaning up to do.``There has never been so much raised in our area at one event when the contribution limits are considered,'' he said.

<snip>
Arshinkoff said that Bush-Cheney campaigners called in early June to say they wanted to do a fund-raiser in the Akron-Canton area. The event was organized by Arshinkoff and his wife, Karen, the Brennans and Walden W. O'Dell, chairman and chief executive of Diebold Inc. in Green. <snip>

7. More
This article also focuses on ES&S and some history of the intertwined relationships between the vendors and right-wing politics.

My first sentence from the above post came from this Mother Jones piece.

"Since 1991 the Timken Company and members of the Timken family have contributed more than a million dollars to the Republican Party and to GOP presidential candidates such as George W. Bush."

Diebold's Political Machine

Political insiders suggest Ohio could become as decisive this year as Florida was four years ago. Which is why the state's plan to use paperless touch-screen voting machines has so many up in arms.

5. So their spouses will instead.
That's how this works. People's children "give" as well.

8. Big PR move. Try to cast off any
partisan label from the company. They'll sell this lie to millions.
