New Iraq Chief: Evidence Linking Saddam to 9/11 Is 'Genuine'

The man tapped to head Iraq's new interim government has vouched for the authenticity of evidence that links Saddam Hussein to the 9/11 attacks.

Though the notion that Iraq played a role in 9/11 is considered heresy in U.S. intelligence circles, newly appointed Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said in December that a document purported to be from Saddam's intelligence service that places lead 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta in Baghdad two months before the attacks was indeed "genuine."

"We are uncovering evidence all the time of Saddam's involvement with al-Qaeda," Allawi told the London Telegraph at the time. "But this is the most compelling piece of evidence that we have found so far. It shows that not only did Saddam have contacts with al-Qaeda, he had contact with those responsible for the September 11 attacks."

As reported by the Telegraph at the time, the document - a handwritten memo dated July 1, 2001 - provides a short resume of a three-day "work program" Atta had undertaken at Abu Nidal's terrorist training camp in Baghdad.

3. given all the "lies"
we've been fed about WMDs, Iraq, Saddam, yellow-cake, toss in the booga-booga terralerts, sprinkle generously with the "mis-speaks" and top it off with the cherry pickers -- can we believe anything coming out of the whitehouse or from intelligent sources?

in an effort to cover his own butt -- bush* has destroyed intelligence agency's credibility.

when he's not blaming Clinton for everything, he's blames intelligence agencies...and whined that he was "mis-lead"

seems to me that this is a classic case of incompetence of major proportions on all sides

6. Considering that the source is the Daily Telegraph...
you just know it has to be true! Conrad Black's soon to be old paper -- or has it been sold yet? -- would never publish lies and subterfuge to push a neocon agenda and Joseph Farah's Dominionist website would never just make crap up! /sarcasm off] Why, that would make them almost as bad as Jayna Davis, Steve Emerson and Jack Cashill. Oh wait, NewsMax already publishes those people.

Nidal was executed by Saddam's secret police in August 2002 in what some suspect was a bid to keep him from telling what he knew about 9/11.

:eyes: Wasn't Nidal killed by American forces?

8. I did read somewhere that Alawi was one of the purveyors of lies
that led to the war. There it is:

3.  On the Iraq's new Foreign Minister...
ALAWI PASSED FAULTY INTELLIGENCE TO THE CIA: Alawi, "is the secretary general of the Iraqi National Accord (INA), an exile group that has received funds from the Central Intelligence Agency." Alawi also has close connections the British MI6 intelligence agency. Alawi is "the person through whom the controversial claim was channeled that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction could be operational in 45 minutes" - a claim pushed by British intelligence and parroted by President Bush. .."

9. I guess they forgot about that huge market in forged documents
that was reported last year eh?

You know, like the single manilla folder that was found in the bombed out building with names whited out showing an al queda connection.

What a gullible bunch of lackwits.

11. Help me debunk---
It is important for all to be aware and point out the meanderings of the story. First off the CIA had this info and discounted it before the war. I heard a guy just yesterday say this on C_SPan.
He was guest on Washington Journal discussing Ethics and War.I heard someone CNN say same thing -- it has been discounted by CIA.The only way I an see to debunk it further--illunminate the mkotivation for its cropping up now.

Now back to my point. The Weekly Standard apparently published this account in a story in their Magazine. BIll Krystol, Weekly Standard--Leader in Neocon movement. O"Reilly has picked it up and has talked about it every night over the past week.(We know Fox News is the Propaganda Arm for the WH and NeoCons). Gradually every progam even that Morning"Frinds" show is pushing it forward.

Fox does lead in ratings which means they have more viewers.
Pure and simple this is an effort to convince the public the WH is correct about the War. This is the most obvious well-orchestrated Propagand Move I have ever witnessed. Some pollsters have commented that Bush is losing some basesupport. This is one of many efforts to stop the hemmorhaging. The NeoCons do not wish to be discredited since they just gained power. They promoted this war and sold Bush on it--They are going to do everything they can to save themselves.

This is a perfect example of why Fox viewers when surveyed were found to be the most inaccurately informed group.

12. Still waiting for him to uncover evidence that SH's missiles
could be battle ready in 45 minutes - as Allawi claimed in his misinformation to MI6 and Blair.
