NEW UN RESOLUTION SETS END DATE FOR US MISSION IN IRAQ
From ABC: NEW UN RESOLUTION SETS END DATE FOR US MISSION IN IRAQ: State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher says mandate ends once "democratic elections under a new constitution" occur, meaning mandate would end by Jan. 2006, ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports... First time any date has been set...

From AFP:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=1504&e=4&u=/afp/20040601/pl_afp/us_iraq_un_resolution_040601192505

US, Britain to submit revised Iraq resolution to UN Security Council

WASHINGTON (AFP) - <snip>

"The revised text makes clearer that the occupation ends on June 30 and that the Iraqi interim government will be fully sovereign," he told reporters.

"New language has been added to specify that the multinational force's mandate will end upon completion of the political process that leads to democratic elections under a new constitution," Boucher said.

Although he allowed that the amended resolution does not set down a certain date for the end of the mandate, Boucher noted that it took into account previous agreements that refer to that timetable as coming "by the end of 2005 or early 2006."

He added that the document would make "explicit" the right of the Security Council to end the mandate earlier if requested by the Iraqi transitional government -- which is to take power after elections in January 2005.

The new resolution also "highlights" control of the interim government's interior ministry over Iraq's police forces and "includes explicit reference to Iraqi's control of their natural resources," Boucher said. <snip>

1. What does this mean? Have we already bought the "Iraqi Government"
or is Iraqi "fully privatized?"

2. It means Bu$h will do anything
to get reelected.

Now he can campaign that Iraq is a huge success and that despite continued casualties, the end is in sight and the troops will start coming home.

7. It says UN agrees to 2 years of corruption in return for date certain US
leaves.

The crooks lead by a CIA employee will be in charge of contracts, etc until the second round of elections - after the elections in Jan 2005 to get the folks that will write a new Constitution, we will in theory have a second round of elections to elect new folks to actually run the country - and those folks will take office in 2006.

Of course this assumes a new constitution and a second round of elections are not called off for security reasons.

So Iraq brokerage firms - known as the relatives of the PM and the new ministers - will be accepting the fee for help in making contact charge that the corrupt group just ended formerly received.

Indeed once they have direct control of the oil, Carlyle will declare a new dividend payout for special folks like Bush and company.

3. Hmm France's Chirac seems more worried about the US troops than W is
French President Jacques Chirac said last week that the draft needed to be "greatly improved" and that a date must be set for the US troops to leave the country, a position shared by China which had suggested a January 2005 deadline for withdrawal.

Just say these words over and over, and they will become true -- by magic.

8. Please....
They went IN against the decisions of the UN, and without a UN mandate. Why would they care if they all of a sudden get a UN mandate, and then lose it again in 2006???

10. Since Bushco seem to accept the french conditions
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 03:31 PM by Rochambeau
I imagine that France and China will vote the US/British resolution. Unfortunatly I must admit that if it happens that way it is a great move from Dubya...Not good, not good...
You are right DoYouEverWonder, Bu$h will do anything to get reelected and that resolution, amended unfortunatly with the help from France and China, is a good first step to progressively cut the ground under the anti-war states in the UN feet... But, what can we do if they start to accept our conditions ? They will finaly either push France and co to cooperate or to go through more and more "ultra" conditions that will discredit them (Germany is already shaking. They did not support the "deadline for the end of the mandate" condition that Bu$h seems to accept anyway).
