Navy to Deploy Carrier Groups to Test Rapid Readiness
http://www.wavy.com/Global/story.asp?S=1902088

major exercise soon to be underway will have a large part of the Navy fleet deploying out of Norfolk.

WAVY News 10 has learned the Navy is sending seven carrier strike groups out to sea.

Don't know whether this has already been posted...but...dang!
SEVEN strike carrier battle groups being placed out at sea at the
same time...? Umm...last time this happened, they ended up
"practicing" on Iraq... :eyes:

I have a feeling "something" is about to happen here that will then
cause these carriers to really be used to do "something" else...like
in Syria.

BUSH: "7 months ago, we passed the umm - Syria Accountabilitizing Act... and the time has come for uh, reckoning... which means to realize - that the threat... is here, and growing... and when fear grows in good hearts, goodness must strike with compassion. On my orders, Coalition forces have begun strategic air strikes on terrorist training camps, command and control centers, and Arab TV networks located ummmm in Syria. A free Syria is important for a secure middle east, and when Syria is free of the yoke of oppression, of the mantlepiece... of uh, of evil - it will then sprout forth and bloom in freedom, which is important to making progress in freedom. May God Continue to Bless America... Amen."

first we have Iran:

IRAN LAUNCHES MAJOR NAVAL EXERCISE

NICOSIA -- Iran has launched what has been described as a major regional naval exercise.

Iranian officials said the exercise was the largest in more than a year and included underwater, and surface vessels. The naval assets were supported by fighter-jets and bombers.

The exercise, termed Unity-83, included the participation of 76 marine units as well as a range of air force combat jets. Officials said the exercise would proceed in four stages to test a series of capabilities, particularly the interoperability between surface vessels, submarines and aircraft.

Unity-83 was described as a regional exercise in which submarines would conducts maneuvers in the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean. Officials said the exercise would demonstrate the navy's power projection capabilities, force readiness, and new naval basing facilities.

5. Protect the fleet
When Pearl Harbor was hit all the carriers were at sea... I'm usually not a black helicopter type but this seems unusual.
