Senior Hamas Leader Is Killed in Blast in Gaza City
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: May 29, 2004

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- An explosion destroyed a motorcycle in Gaza City early Sunday, killing a founder of Hamas' military wing, his aide and a bystander.

Hamas charged that Israel was responsible for what it called a "dirty assassination crime."

It said the attack killed Wael Nassar, 38, one of the founders of the Hamas military wing Izzedine al-Qassam. His assistant, Mohammed Sarsour, 31; and an unidentified bystander were also killed, Hamas said.

The two Hamas leaders were on the motorcycle when it exploded, witnesses said.

1. ...another one bites the dust!
Too bad for them, they weren't able to become noble martyrs by strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up some innocent bus riders, or pizza restaurant customers.
Hamas members will still be allowed to be suicide bombers, but the time and place of the explosion appears to now be at the discretion of the Israelis.
...as it should be.

3. So your argument...
is that suicide bombings are okay, as long as no Israelis are hurt. Gotcha.

6. If terrorists want to blow themselves to bits it's OK with me.
If they take out fellow terrorists, even better. If they take out innocent people, of any denomination, then that is the definition of terrorist. If they take out people who hide, support or tolerate them in their midst...I have a real hard time getting any sympathy flowing.

10. I so totally agree with you. Too many people
come from good positions but end up sounding like apologists for the terrorists.

14. One man's 'terrorist' is another man's 'freedom fighter.'
I just don't know you call assassinations other than "terrorism."

2. Is it time for a new word yet ?

Like assassinicide, or maybe just Assassicide.

Interesting history to the word Assassin vis-avis the Middle East:

7. How about bystandercide
Edited on Sat May-29-04 06:45 PM by daleo
For the innocent bystanders killed by all the various sides. I think the bystandercides would outnumber the actual belligerents in all these conflicts by a factor of ten or so.

Today's score for Israel would be one assasination and two bystandercides, or two assasinations and one bystandercide, depending on how you classify the driver. The Israel government can then claim it was only trying to prevent bystandercides of its own people.

Then Hamas can committ some bystandercides back. Same for the U.S. in Iraq, then the Iraqi resistance, Russians, Chechens, etc.

On edit - If and when the craziness progresses to nuclear war, we will all be bystandercides.

8. Doesnt have a ring to it

I prefer innocenticide

Of course, you realize that there are no innocents in todays world. We're all guilty of something or other. That's what the Patriot Act is founded on, after all.

11. the moderates aren't in power on either side;
on one side you've got Arafat, on the other you've got Likud and you've got the Shrub "mediating."

13. A very sad picture

That was once a very good motorcycle and now it is junk. Such a shame the hamas terrorists allow perfectly good motorcycles to be destroyed.

16. YEs we should have no respect for the Hamas leaders or their families
because they are subhuman, right?

They don't even qualify as human beings just by virtue of the things they have supported, so you and I can scelebrate their death and the anguish and look forward to many more such incidents against all of our enemies.

Right?
