BAGHDAD, May 29 (Reuters) - Speeding along at close to 160 km/h (100 mph), Raad Ashour saw a dark grey car pull up alongside his Landcruiser and knew the attack was seconds away.

"I was travelling really fast and there was a convoy of cars ahead of us," Ashour said on Saturday, recounting the attack on Thursday which left his passengers, two Japanese journalists and their Iraqi translator dead.

"I went to the left of the convoy and then a dark grey Opel with four people inside came alongside us, pressuring me to stay to the left.

"When the car pulled up I knew he was going to hit us," Ashour said, nursing several wounds from the attack near the town of Mahmudiya, just south of Baghdad, a spot that has become one of the most dangerous corners of Iraq in recent months.
