Italy warns of Bush unrest threat
BBC NEWS
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3757625.stm

Italy has warned of "serious threats" when US President George W Bush visits Rome next week.
Demonstrators are expected to mass on 2 June - Italy's national day - and when Mr Bush is in the capital on 4-5 June.

snip

Mr Bush's visit is expected to generate particular anger from protesters opposed to the Iraq war

I hope they don't have a "free speech zone" like we do.

1. Since Genua, the Italian police is notorious
for their violent and partially unlawful behavior and mistreatment of arrested demonstrators.

Like in the US, the Italian democratic system is kind of deteriorated.

3. I hope this gets a lot of headline coverage.
it might convince more people to vote for Kerry. I keep hearing that quite a few people from foreigh countries don't hate Americans but hate W. To me, that would be one more reason for voters to want to get rid of W in Nov.

7. You know what would be really surprising?
If he didn't have protestors. Everywhere the smirk goes torches and pitchforks are sure to follow. I wonder if his "Crack staff" has told him, probably not.

8. Hmmm do you think he will show?
From the related article...

<snip>
"If a criminal of the calibre of Bush is given the red carpet treatment, then rage is the right reaction," said anti-globalisation activist Luca Casarini.

"Confronted by a heavily-defended Rome that is looking to protect that terrorist Bush, the only thing to do is break the rules," he told La Stampa newspaper.
<snip>

Seems really serious! :wow: I'm wondering if he won't have another accident that will keep him from going? :shrug:
