On the way over the brige that explicitly forbid the import of explosives into New Jersey.

Maybe they should make the signs bigger?

8. Lessee, right wing loony, check
Lots of guns and ammo, check.

Ideation and fantasy writing, check.

Well, since he's a right wing loony, and we know that those guys never, e-e-e-e-ever jump the tracks and go on a killing spree, I'd say turn him loose. His lawyer certainly thinks so:

Police also found an essay in which Breit allegedly outlined a plan to kill 1,500 people at a Democratic presidential caucus.

Defense attorney Dan Cain said Breit's writings were "nothing more than a short story ... daydream stuff" and that his client never intended to harm anyone.

"The government has misinterpreted the evidence and has presented it in the most dangerous light," Cain said.

Yeah, I mean, you write one essay about killing a measly 1,500 people, have a few thousand rounds of ammo, accidentally shoot off an AK-47 in your apartment, and people just jump to conclusions!

Now, if you're a Muslim convert like Brandon Mayfield, you just "disappear" under the USA PATRIOT Act. Mr. Breit (first name "Nuntoo"?), however, is probably on a Republican donor list somewhere.

Reasons scarce for arsenal

Michael Breit's alleged 'hit list' is sealed by federal authorities

ROCKFORD -- A bumper sticker that reads "Yeah! You can have my gun -- BULLETS FIRST," a tattoo shop ad and an American flag decal decorate the outside of a car belonging to a Rockford man who authorities believe was stockpiling guns, ammunition and bomb-making materials to attack the government, police and liberals.

Few details emerged about 20-year-old Michael Breit after his arrest on federal charges of illegally receiving explosives with intent to use them to kill, injure or intimidate any person or damage or destroy any property. If convicted, Breit could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

No one answered the door at Breit's Sunnyside Drive apartment building. Breit's parents, James and Leslie Breit, refused to comment. Employees at a Loves Park gun shop where Breit claims to have purchased assault-type firearms and bomb-making materials in recent months said they barely know him.

According to court documents, Breit completed the 10th grade and has been working the past five years at Aaron's Electrical Service in Rockford. Breit has no juvenile record. He has no adult record beyond tickets for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and fishing without a license. He has never been in prison. Court documents say that he "became hostile and defensive and refused to answer any further questions without his lawyer" when he was asked about drug and alcohol use.

Court records also reveal that Breit owned several firearms, several hundred rounds of ammunition, several knives, a sword, hand grenade, bags and boxes of fireworks and bomb-making parts. His home library carried such titles as "The Anarchist Cookbook," which includes instructions on how to make pipe bombs and other explosives, and "The Turner Diaries," a novel about armed revolution against the federal government.

12. does this phrase suggests not working alone?
Federal authorities have charged Breit, 20, with illegally receiving explosives with intent to use them to kill, injure or intimidate people or damage property. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. Breit pleaded not guilty last week.

Is that a typical phrase if one procures the materials oneself?

Wonder if he has any favorite rw talking heads that he listens to... (Savage ala we should kill all the liberals)... or reads (Culter also we should kill all the liberals)... Or just Robertson (ala we should nuke the state dept.)? Wasn't there an op-ed piece suggesting that some rw talking heads should take heed of recent war crimes rulings in the Rwanda arena? Oh - but Daschle was speaking over the line when he suggested that some of the more violent inciteful rhetoric from the rightwing talking heads was irresponsible and dangerous... or so said - the rightwing talking heads.

Question for those between the East Coast and Midwest - which states are getting ready to hold their caucuses?

Alleged Rockford Terror Suspect Remains Jailed

A man from Rockford, Ill., who is accused of amassing bomb-making materials and brainstorming terror attacks should be kept in jail pending trial, a judge has ruled.

SNIP:In a search, police found weapons and incriminating notes, including a list of public figures with the word "marked" next to their names. Breit told investigators "marked" meant "marked to die" for liberal or anti-gun views, a criminal complaint said.

Police also found an essay in which Breit allegedly outlined a plan to kill 1,500 people at a Democratic presidential caucus.

18. All conservatives should denounce this guy.
After all, if all conservatives don't denounce him, that means they tacitly support him.

Conservatives demand that every single Muslim should denounce publicly and/or apologize for every single act of terror committed by another Muslim.

...more like a nutcase than anything else, and a wimpy one at that. Now the guy we caught here last week trying to get ahold of twenty silencers and some detonators is some cause for concern.

20. LIVE?????? grenades, I'm no expert or anything......so correct me when I'm
Edited on Thu May-27-04 10:25 AM by Fear
wrong here

The 'live grenades'? the police found?

"Officers found several devices inside the Toyota Camry -- including two live grenades, several gas containers, a funnel, WD-40, and several rags."

AND

Doesn't a 'LIVE' grenade have some thingy on there, or whatever all of that is.
googled it up on images:
http://images.google.com/images?q=grenade&num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&newwindow=1&safe=off&sa=N&tab=wi

These don't really look like the ones the police officer holds, or are they empty?

Concern Over Explosives In Car Was 'False Alarm'
Live Grenades, Gas Containers Among Items Found In Car
Federal authorities said Thursday that the arrest of an Illinois man whose car was loaded with suspected explosives triggered a false alarm.
<snip>
When officers pulled the man over in Pleasantville, N.J., they found what appeared to be two grenades and several gas containers. But an examination later showed that the grenades were harmless and the gas cans were empty.
