Australia shifts focus onto South Pacific
An Australian Government think-tank says Canberra agencies are changing to give a greater focus to the South Pacific.
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute says police rather than the military are now in the front line of the security effort in the Pacific.

The study says that with Australian police in Timor, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, a higher proportion of the federal police are deployed overseas than the defence force.
