Mossad goes on-line to recruit spies
Mossad goes on-line to recruit spies
Mon 24 May, 2004 13:43

By Dan Williams

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Israeli spy agency Mossad has emerged from the shadows after it launched a website to attract recruits for "special tasks" -- as well as intelligence analysts, waiters and drivers.

<snip>

"Mossad's mainstay is its people," reads the site's (www.mossad.gov.il) foreword by agency chief Meir Dagan, posted next to backlit photographs of unnamed intelligence analysts at their desks.

<snip>

"The days when a security career was seen as the be-all and end-all of Israeli citizenship are over," he told Reuters. "Now we are an open society, and Mossad has had to appeal to the widest range of talented applicants who might otherwise head for hi-tech or other private sectors."

<snip>

But Mossad has also been embarrassed by a series of bungles. In 1997 its agents botched an attempt on the life of a leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Jordan. In 1998 a Mossad team was arrested in Switzerland while spying on a local man believed linked to Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas.

<snip>

"This is basically a belated employment move which Mossad is making the most of," Melman said, noting that the Web site advertises for English-speaking waiters and bus drivers as well as analysts, translators and agents for "special tasks".

2. Tsk, good people are hard to find.
Does this indicate recruiting problems, perchance?

3. it's getting harder to pull off "sparkle" attacks like the WTC, and the
upcoming olympic bombings in Greece, much less whatever else the mossad is up to in the US on behalf of the BFEE.

4. YOU RAVING ANTI-SEMITE!
Just getting in the old "even the faintest whiff of potential criticism of Israel is racism directed against each and every Jew on the planet!!!!1" canard early, so others will not bother to post it.

:)

10. See, at least your post was a slightly *clever* attack.
Post #8 was just a sad personal attack - likely why it was deleted.

6. What does "Year of Aliyah" mean?
I'm going through the application form, and am stumped by this question on the form.

Thought I'd apply and see what happens. Wish me luck!

Mossad Killers on the Loose in the USA
by RICHARD SALE

Gerald Bull, an Ontario-born U.S. citizen and designer of the Iraqi supergun -- a massive artillery system capable of launching satellites into orbit, and of delivering nuclear chemical or biological payloads from Baghdad to Israel -- was killed in Belgium in March 1990. The killing is still unsolved, but former CIA officials said a Mossad hit team is the most likely suspect.

Bull worked on the supergun design -- codenamed Project Babylon -- for 10 years, and helped the Iraqis develop many smaller artillery systems. He was found with five bullets in his head outside his Brussels apartment.

Israeli hit teams, which consist of units or squadrons of the Kidon, a sub-unit for Mossad's highly secret Metsada department, would stage the operations, former Israeli intelligence sources said. Kidon is a Hebrew word meaning "bayonet," one former Israeli intelligence source said.

11. Er, wasn't the "supergun" allegation a fabrication?
I don't recall ever reading anything in a reputable source that the 'supergun' project even existed.

Am I wrong on that?
