U.S. General Forecasts Escalating Iraq Violence
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=5197339

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A further surge in violence is likely in Iraq after the June 30 return of self- governance and leading up to Iraqi elections, which could require the deployment of more American troops, the top U.S. commander in the region said on Wednesday.

The Pentagon already has said it planned to keep the current elevated level of about 138,000 U.S. troops in Iraq until the end of next year to deal with a worsening security situation.

Gen. John Abizaid, head of U.S. Central Command and responsible for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, was asked at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing whether the current troop level would be sufficient after June 30. That is when U.S.-led occupation forces plan to return some authority to a still-undetermined interim Iraqi government.

"I would predict, and I think Rick (Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the top U.S. commander in Iraq) will agree with me, that the situation will become more violent even after sovereignty because it will remain unclear what's going to happen between the interim government and elections," said Abizaid.

I guess that is "progress"!

3. That's some deep thinking, forecasting more violence at this point is
like forecasting rain on the Amazon....just wait a few hours.

5. My Question
Where the fuck were these three stooges when General Shinseki was getting his ass chewed by Wolfowitz for saying the same damn thing.

These are Bush's Generals, just like the German High Command were known as Hitler's Generals. So it's definitely not meant as a compliment.

And from this time forward I will refer to these three as Bush's Generals.

Then again it would seem that most of the general officers in the military can be considered as Bush's Generals, until such a time as they prove not to be.

10. "They are going to fight for their freedom, their nation, their right,...
,...to exist independent of our imperialist goals".

No shit, Sherlock!!!!

Thank God you have some part of a "thinking" brain left.

What bothers me is that you OFFER what is left of your brain and heart as some kind of "EXPERT" forecast of the future.

Get OFF you ego trip!!!

EWWWWWWWW,....I really despise these freakin' people who see the world as having "more equals" over "less equals".

:argh:
