Baghdad - A group of French journalists were arrested in Iraq, a United States military spokesperson said on Wednesday.

3. They could present an irresistable opportunity
for some hostile, dim-witted thugs who have been spoon-fed our lunatic fringe's psychotic hatred of the French created by the White House since they dared to criticise Bush.

Baghdad - Four people have been arrested over the beheading of US businessman Nicholas Berg, whose killing was shown earlier this month in a video on an al-Qaeda-linked website, a senior Iraqi source said on Tuesday.

US Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, the coalition's deputy director of military operations, told a Baghdad news conference that he had not been informed any arrests were made on Tuesday.

"We have no information from the coalition that any arrests were made today," he said.

5. Maybe go easy on them
Like the Reauters crew. Force them it lick their fingers after forcing them to insert them in you-know-where. You couldn't make this stuff up.

9. updated link: French TV crew detained for more than 24 hours in Baghdad
Edited on Wed May-19-04 02:52 PM by maddezmom
BAGHDAD (AFP) - Four members of a French television crew were released after being detained for more than 24 hours by US soldiers in the Iraqi capital, the group told AFP.

Iraqi police arrested the Canal Plus team, made up of two journalists, a cameraman and their Iraqi driver, as they filmed near a US checkpoint outside Baghdad Hotel in the centre of the capital.

They were handed over to US forces who interrogated them for several hours and kept them handcuffed, according to journalist Michel Despratx.

"They asked us why we were filming, what we wanted, and if we were spies," he said, adding the group was not mistreated.

Witnesses to their arrest said the group were filming in the Baghdad Hotel area even though large signs written in English and Arabic state that photography is strictly prohibited.
