Israeli Attack on Gaza Protest Kills at Least 12
They used shells on rock-throwing kids. I can't even believe it.

Israeli Attack on Gaza Protest Kills at Least 12

RAFAH, Gaza Strip, May 19 -- An Israeli tank and helicopter fired on rock-throwing Palestinian demonstrators Wednesday, killing at least 12 people and wounding dozens of others, according to witnesses. Israeli media put the number of dead at 22.

An Israeli Army spokesman told the Reuters news service it was too early to know what happened and that an investigation had begun.

It was the second consecutive day of death and injury in this densely populated area of the Gaza Strip. At least 19 Palestinians were killed Tuesday as Israeli forces went street by street and house by house seeking to root out Palestinian fighters and weapons.

In protest of that operation, the demonstrators Wednesday afternoon were marching towards the Tel Sultan neighborhood, which has been sealed off by the Israelis who have established a cordon about one half mile from the entrance to the neighborhood.

As they marched along the main street here, a group of them got within about 800 feet of the cordon, with some in the front throwing rocks towards an Israeli tank, witnesses said.

At that point, the tank opened fire on an electrical pylon above the crowd, hitting some of the Palestinians with shrapnel. Then the tank and an Israeli assault helicopter fired at the crowd itself, witnesses said.

Kahmis Shaer, who was in the protesting crowd, said everyone was in a state of shock. "I saw a guy with his head chopped off and another with his arm off and another hit in the stomach."

1. Oh, God. Why?
They killed unarmed protestors?

Isn't that a war crime?

God. This just makes me ill.
