3. The Whole Story
That's good news, but the bad news is that Bush got 282,000 votes to Kerry's 281,000. I hope all the DK voters intend to support Kerry, as that would bring Oregon solidly into the Blue Belt.

4. Man. What other races were on that Republican ticket?
Why would 282K Republicans show up to vote Bush in an uncontested Pres primary???

9. There were probably other issues on the ballot...
At least there usually are here.

Still, Republican turnout was probably lower than expected.

10. I'm a big DK supporter who will certainly support JK in the general
Edited on Wed May-19-04 11:26 AM by dnvechoes
So if a Californian is indicitive of what an Oregonian will do, most DK supporters are probably on board.

12. My favorite local result was that Tom Potter beat DINO
Jim Francesconi, the knuckledheaded businessmen's choice for Portland Mayor.

I guess I'll send my $25 to Potter today to help ensure a victory in the run-off.

13. Another nice result
Robert Liberty, former head of 1000 Friends of Oregon, making it into a run-off election against Rod Monroe for Metro Council.

I wish we could get an elected Metro Council here in Minnesota! Our Metro Council is appointed by the governor, who is currently a knuckle-dragging Republican. That's why most of the new construction in the Minnapolis-St. Paul suburbs and even some in the city LOOKS as if it was planned by people who knew that they wouldn't have to stick around to take the heat for it.
